One of the worst emails anyone running a website can get is the one from a customer that starts, "Hey, is your site down?"
By the time someone writes that, the problem has usually been going on for a while. Visitors have already left, and some of them won't be back. Over the last few months, a lot of the people we talk to asked whether WebRankPage could watch for this. So it now does, in two ways.
Website uptime
Add a site and we check it around the clock. If it stops answering, you'll know.

For each site you get:
- Uptime and downtime over the last day, week, month or 90 days, or any range you choose.
- Every check as a bar, so you can see at a glance when things went wrong.
- Response time over the same period. A site that's slowly getting slower is often a warning before it goes down.
- Outages listed with when they started, how long they lasted, and what actually happened, like a timeout or a server error.
We don't call it an outage on a single failed request. A check has to fail, and a retry 30 seconds later has to fail too. One network blip at 3am shouldn't wake anyone up. You can also add a note to each outage, which is handy when you're explaining to a client what happened and what was done about it.
SSL certificates
An expired certificate takes a site down as completely as a server crash. Browsers show a full-page warning and almost everyone turns back. The frustrating part is that it's entirely predictable: every certificate has its expiry date written into it.

SSL monitoring watches the certificates you care about and shows, for each one:
- Status: valid, expired, or not trusted by browsers.
- Days left until it expires, and the date.
- The issuer, so you know where to go to renew.
- A grade for the overall setup, from A+ down to F.
We remind you before a certificate expires, once per certificate, rather than every time we check. And because we keep each certificate we've seen, a renewal (or a replacement nobody told you about) shows up in its history.
How much you can watch
Certificate checks are light, so even the free plan includes one. Basic includes three, Pro ten and Agency thirty. Uptime monitoring is included in Pro, for three sites, and Agency, for ten.
Getting started
You'll find both under Website uptime and SSL monitoring in your dashboard. Adding a site takes about ten seconds.
If you'd just like a one-off look at a site's certificate, our free SSL checker grades any site without an account. And to check whether a site is down right now, there's is it down?
